Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing team sports in the United States. The sport of lacrosse is a combination of basketball, soccer and hockey. Anyone can play lacrosse--the big or the small. The game requires and rewards coordination and agility, not brawn. Quickness and speed are two highly prized qualities in lacrosse. An exhilarating sport, lacrosse is fast-paced and full of action. Long sprints up and down the field with abrupt starts and stops, precision passes and dodges are routine in men's and women's lacrosse. Lacrosse is played with a stick, the crosse, which must be mastered by the player to throw, catch and scoop the ball.If you are interested in getting more information about Grafton Lacrosse or would like to enroll your child in our program please send us an email at info@graftonlacrosse.com.  We will provide you with all the information you need.

HOW BIG IS IT REALLY:
Over the past decade, the number of people playing lacrosse nationally has increased at an estimated rate of over 10 percent annually.
US Lacrosse, the national governing body of the sport, has seen an explosion of the sport at the youth level over the last several years. Data collected from US Lacrosse’s 52 regional chapters following the 2004 calendar year indicated more than 185,000 players played the sport. Since 1999, the number of youth members (age 15 and under) has grown from over 40,000 to just under 100,000.

CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY:
Aren't we all, but here are the facts you should know, football, wrestling, soccer and hockey all have higher incidents of injuries than men’s lacrosse in game situations according to data from the NCAA Injury Surveillance System. In women’s sports, basketball, field hockey, gymnastics, ice hockey and soccer all have higher incidents of injuries in game situations.

After an even more sucessful 2008 season we have begun the 2009 pre-season events. Our enrollment is growing year after year and our teams are having even more fun.  We have a very exciting season planned and have some of the most talented Coaches already recruited to help our kids learn more about the sport and have more fun while playing. All the Board Members are very excited about this year.  If you have any questions or comments please feel free to send them to info@graftonlacrosse.com and we will make sure the appropriate person gets back to you as soon as possible.  Please make note that we have several open positions and all volunteers are welcome and we can always use the help.  Our organization is fully staffed by volunteers and we need as many as we can to insure our kids have a happy, fun filled and safe experience.
MANY THANKS TO LAST YEARS VOLUNTEERS and hope to see you all again this year.
